Former AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel was attacked by an angry mob while he was inside his vehicle at the Baijipura Jinsi area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
An MIM worker was reportedly injured in the attack, local news reports said.
Jaleel was marching as part of his campaign when some workers protested, carrying black flags. Some of them then attempted to stop his Thar vehicle and threw eggs.

The workers then clashed with MIM workers who were with Jaleel. Police intervened and lathi-charged the crowd to disperse the two sides.
Imtiaz Jaleel’s party leaders alleged that the attacks were carried out by Congress candidate Kaleen Qureshi. They said that they had anticipated the attack and that the police failed to make proper arrangements despite being informed of their suspicions.
Meanwhile, Kaleem Qureshi has claimed that the attacks were carried out by Jaleel’s party to “gain sympathy” and followers in the region. He also denied involvement in the attacks.
Jaleel denied the allegations. He has demanded that action be taken against those who were involved.
He later alleged that the BJP ministers Atul Save and Sanjay Shirsat were also involved in hiring goons for the attack.
Sanjay Shirsat dismissed the claims and challenged that he would quit politics if the allegations were proven true.
Police have deployed heavy security in the area following the clashes.
