The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday moved the Supreme Court to file a Special Leave Petition to challenge the Delhi High Court order, suspending the sentence and granting bail to former BJP Uttar Pradesh MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case.
Sengar was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of 10 years and fined Rs 10 lakh. He was granted bail on the condition that he furnish a bond of Rs 15 lakh.
“CBI has studied the orders of the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court in the Unnao Rape Case and has decided to file an SLP before the Hon’ble Supreme Court at the earliest against the orders of the High Court granting bail to the accused Kuldeep Sengar by suspension of the sentence," a CBI spokesperson had said in a statement.
