Dancer Kristina Sheikh has been “deeply traumatised” by the fire that occurred at the Goa nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, according to her husband.

Kirstina, a Kazakh performer, was entertaining the audience at the nightclub on December 6, when the fire broke out.

Her husband, Mikhail Bukin, who spoke to NDTV, said that his wife has not slept for the past six days since the fire. He said that she does not step out of the house and has lost about 5 kilograms of weight due to emotional distress.

"She is constantly crying. Her life is destroyed. Twenty-five people have lost their lives, but my wife has died alive,"  he said.

He also added that the entire family was going through a hard time.

Goa police had recorded about 60 statements so far, and the investigation is expected to widen. Multiple accused were brought before the court.

Goa police also recorded Kristina’s statement on December 12. Officials said earlier that she did not have a valid work visa to perform in India. She had applied for a business visa, but it is yet to be approved. Superintendent of Police (FRRO) Arshi Adil told PTI that they were still inquiring into whether Kristina had a business visa.

The fire at Birch by Romeo Lane in Goa’s Arpora claimed the lives of 25 people and injured several.

The fire started after the electric firecrackers, which were part of the performance, went off during Kristina’s dance. She was dancing to the song Mehbooba Mehbooba when the fire started from the ceiling of the stage.

Kristina had told the media earlier that a crew member asked her not to go indie the changing room after the fire started. She has a daughter. On Instagram, she has over 2.7 lakh followers.

The Luthra brothers, Gaurav and Saurabh, have been detained in Thailand, and legal procedures to bring them back are underway.
