A DRDO scientist was found dead in his home just two days after his marriage in Alwar, Rajasthan, on Thursday.
Aditya Verma, 28, was a joint director with the Defence Research and Development Organisation in Mysuru.
Verma was working with the DRDO’s food research laboratory and had joined just two months ago. Specific information regarding his work has not been revealed.
He had gotten married on November 25 and was found dead inside the toilet at his home on Thursday.
His family said that Verma went to the bathroom at around 5:30 am on November 27. His family noticed that he did not come out for about 30 minutes. His mother then called his father.
They found Verma unconscious in the bathroom after breaking down the toilet door and then rushed him to the hospital. A post-mortem was done.
Assistant Sub Inspector of Police at the Shivaji Park police station in Alwar said that Aditya’s father told them that his son had gotten married on November 25. “The bride came home on the 26th, and on the 27th morning, when he went to the toilet, he did not come out," he said.
"The bathroom was locked from the inside, they (family) broke the door open and rushed him to the hospital. Aditya was a scientist at DRDO, and he married a police officer's daughter. The post-mortem has been done, and the viscera report has been taken and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The parents have not accused anyone in the police complaint."
The post-mortem report has not yet been handed to the police.
Prem Saini, the medical jurist part of the post-mortem team, told NDTV that it was not possible to say what the cause of death was until the report comes in.
On October 21, DRDO scientist Akashdeep Gupta was found dead in Lucknow just six months after his marriage.
He had fallen ill after he had dinner and died in a similar manner.
His family suspected he died of a heart attack, but doctors remain sceptical. The exact cause of his death is still under the radar.
The DRDO is the research and development agency of the Ministry of Defence and it researches and develops modern defence technology for the country.
Aditya and his new wife, Navya, had booked a honeymoon trip starting from November 29.
