Five tourists were trapped in a sky dining restaurant after the hydraulic lever of the crane hoisting the facility faced a technical malfunction near the Munnar hill station in Kerala on Friday.
According to media reports, the incident happened at Anachal in Kerala’s Idukki district around 2 pm. Five tourists and an employee of the restaurant were trapped in the restaurant, hoisted 120 feet above the ground.
The operators of the restaurant said they were unable to lower the crane because of the malfunction.
"The incident occurred near Munnar, leaving tourists and staff stranded for over 1.5 hours. Rescue efforts to bring them down safely is underway," an ANI report said.

One of those trapped was brought down, and efforts are on to bring down the others, according to a report in Malayala Manorama. Idukki District Collector Dineshan Cheruvatt reportedly said those others who were trapped would be brought down soon.
The operators of the sky dining facility said they are in contact with the staff member trapped inside. They said that the tourists have been given specific instructions and that they have been assured that there is no reason to worry.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel have reached the sport for rescue operations.
