After two doctors working at Al Falah University were arrested over terror links and another is suspected to have been driving the car that exploded in Delhi's Red Fort area, it has emerged that the Building 17 on the medical college campus was used as a command post by the busted Faridabad terror module.
The Room 13 in this building was occupied by arrested Dr Muzammil Shakeel from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. He used this room as a planning base and was often visited by faculty member Dr Umar un Nabi, who is believed to have died in the Red Fort blast, and another employee Dr Shaheen Shahid who hails from Lucknow.
"Building 17 was their command post. Room 13 became their planning base — they used it for meetings, coordination and possibly to store digital data and blueprints for their operation," Haryana ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
Police forensic team have collected fingerprints, digital evidence and residue samples from Room 13, which witnesses said was always closed unlike other rooms. It also had unusual number of visitors who were unknown to other students.
The forensic experts have also collected chemical samples, residues and glassware from the medical college's laboratory to verify if the facility was used to make IED materials.
Authorities believe that these chemicals may have been transported to Dr Muzammil's rented rooms in Dhauj and Fatehpur Taga, from where around 3,000 kg of explosives were recovered.
Some weapons and explosives were also recovered from Dr Shaheen's Swift Dzire, which was in the possession of Dr Muzammil.
