Senior BJP leader and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has been appointed as the Maharashtra election in-charge for the BJP for the upcoming local self-government body elections.

The announcement was made by party state president Ravindra Chavan during a high-level strategy meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Addressing the media, Bawankule expressed strong confidence in the Mahayuti alliance, stating, “Through Mahayuti, we will secure 51 per cent of the votes and win every local body election in Maharashtra with a two-thirds majority. From municipal corporations to district councils, municipalities, and nagar panchayats, Mahayuti will register a resounding victory across the state.”

The meeting also saw the appointments of district-level election in-charges for focused campaign management in every district.

Besides, three-minister coordination committees have been formed in each district, comprising one minister each from the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP to ensure seamless alliance synergy.

It has been decided not to tolerate any intra-alliance criticism. CM Fadnavis issued strict directives to avoid any public remarks against partner parties.

The marathon three-hour meeting saw detailed division-wise presentations on electoral preparedness. Dignitaries present during the meeting were CM Fadnavis, BJP organisational secretary Shivprakash, general secretaries, and as well as cabinet ministers.

Bawankule assured, “We will personally ensure there are no differences or discord among alliance partners. Coordination will be our top priority.”

With local body elections approaching, the BJP has rolled out a structured, alliance-centric strategy under Bawankule’s leadership to consolidate Mahayuti’s dominance at the grassroots.
