In yet another allegation against the Election Commission, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Sunday claimed that CCTV cameras at a strong room in Nalanda district were switched off for nearly half an hour.

The party also alleged illegal movement of vehicles on the premises when the cameras were off.

"Cameras on EVMs in Nalanda district remained switched off for half an hour! There was a huge commotion! Only then was the camera turned on! Every time the cameras are switched off, the movement of illegal vehicles starts in that area beforehand," the party said in a post on X.

It also accused the Election Commission of “toying with its credibility and mandate”.

On Saturday, the opposition party had alleged that the CCTV camera remained off for half an hour in a strong room in Samastipur. It also said some suspicious individuals were seen entering the strong room of the Mohiuddin Nagar Assembly constituency.

“This time, Bihar will teach these two outsiders a lesson. They want to destroy democracy in Bihar, the mother of the republic — Biharis will not let this happen under any circumstances,” the RJD said on X.

The Election Commission, however, issued a clarification, saying the display screen at the viewing area for one of the five Assembly segments had turned off for some time due to auto timeout, and had been restarted quickly.

It also said the vehicle belonged to security personnel posted at the strong room, who had brought bedding and supplies to the college campus late in the night.
