Amrita Chauhan, the 21-year-old who is the prime accused in the murder of the Delhi USPC aspirant, was disowned by her family more than a year before the murder.

Her parents had announced on July 8, 2024, in an advertisement in a newspaper, that they were severing all ties with her. The copy of the document has been submitted to the court as evidence, Aaj Tak reported.

In the advertisement, Amritha’s father wrote that he was disinheriting his daughter from all his property due to misconduct.

He also said that he and his family have nothing to do with any of her actions.

The information is a new addition to the murder of Ramkesh Meena, 32, who was found dead in his apartment in Gandhi Vihar, Delhi, on October 6th. Police investigation revealed that the death was orchestrated by 3 individuals: Amritha, his live-in partner, her ex Sumit, 27, and a third, Sandeep.

Amrita found out that Meena, who was her live-in partner, had recorded and stored private images of her without her consent. She had asked him many times to delete them, but he had refused. She then turned to her former boyfriend for help. Sumit offered to help her "teach him a lesson." He also involved his friend Sandeep in the plan to confront Meena. The confrontation, however, escalated into murder and Amrita, a Forensic Science student who regularly watched crime shows, helped cover up the crime scene.

The father of the second accused, Sumit, Amritha’s ex, who helped her with the murder, said that if his son is found guilty, he will not stand with him.

“I was in Meerut when I learned that the Delhi Police had taken my son. They told me he was seen on CCTV in the murder case. I'll just say this: if my son is guilty, I'm not with him. But if he's innocent, I'll be with him until my last breath," he said.

Sandeep was preparing for the SSC CGL government exam. His father is a contract employee working who works with the police, Aaj Tak reported.

Meanwhile, the third accused, Sumit, works as a gas cylinder dealer.
