Aryan Mann of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) became the president of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), beating Jocelyn Nandita Chaudhary of the National Students' Union of India. He won against Choudhary by a margin of 16,196 votes.
According to reports, the ABVP won three seats, including the post of the president, while the Congress-backed NSUI was victorious in one.
Aryan Mann hails from Bahadurgarh in Haryana. He completed his graduation (B.Com) from Hansraj College and is pursuing a master's in Library Science at Delhi University currently.
He became actively involved in ABVP-led student movements, including demanding improved infrastructure in the campus. Aryan Mann is also a football player.
During his campaign for DUSU elections, Aryan Maan has promised to provide students with metro passes at subsidised rates, free Wi-Fi across campus, and better sports facilities.
Other wins
NSUI candidate Rahul Jhansla (29,339 votes) defeated ABVP's Govind Tanwar (20,547 votes) to win the vice president's post.
Kunal Chaudhary of the ABVP polled 23,779 votes to bag the secretary's post by defeating NSUI's Kabir. ABVP's Deepika Jha defeated Lavkush Bhadana to win the joint secretary's post in the central panel.
The Students' Federation of India (SFI) and All India Students' Association (AISA) combined drew a blank.
