Navjot Singh, 52, a Deputy Secretary in the Union Ministry of Finance, was killed after he was allegedly hit by a BMW while travelling with his wife on a motorbike. Police have arrested and are investigating the woman who drove the BMW, Gaganpreet, and her husband, Parikshit. The accident occurred near the Dhaula Kuan on ring Road.
Who are Ganganpreet and Parakshit?
According to police officials, the couple are residents of Gurugram. Their car was registered under the woman’s husband's name, Parikshit Kakkar, according to News18. They are said to have a business of horse leather saddles, seat covers, and belts.
The accident
Singh’s motorbike was hit from behind while the car was trying to overtake them, according to eyewitnesses.

The impact of the crash was strong, and the bumper, lights, and side view mirror of the BMW were wrecked, according to images. The airbags of the car were also inflated.
Both the driver of the car and her husband also sustained injuries. Police officials say they got three PCR calls in the afternoon about a traffic jam near Metro pillar number 67, Kuan-Delhi Cantt stretch.
After the crash, the couple who suffered minor injuries booked a taxi online and took the finance ministry official and his wife to the Nulife Hospital in GTB Nagar, about 19 kilometers away from the accident site. According to the driver of the taxi, it took about half an hour to reach the hospital.

Sandeep Kaur, Navjot's wife, told the police that she had pleaded with the couple to take them to a nearby hospital, but they ignored her.
Sources later revealed that the Nulife hospital was co-owned by Gaganpreet's father.
Navjot Singh was declared dead at the hospital, and his wife was treated for injuries.
Meanwhile, their son Navnoor Singh said that his father could have been saved if he had been taken to a nearby hospital. "Time is critical. Maybe he would have survived if he had been taken to a nearby hospital," he said. Navnoor described his father as a careful driver.

Gaganpreet has been charged with a section relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder, destruction of evidence, and rash driving.
