A terrorist was killed while an Army officer was injured in an encounter between militants and security forces in the Gudder area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.
“During the operation one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress," the Army said in a post on X.
The Army added that the soldiers had challenged the terrorists after noting suspicious activity. The terrorists opened fire leading to an encounter.
A police spokesman confirmed that an encounter has started in Kulgam. In a post on X, the spokesman said:
“Based on specific intelligence, #encounter has started in Guddar forest of #Kulgam. SOG of J&K Police, Army and CRPF on job. Further details to follow.”
