The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) released an official statement that said they were suspending K Kavitha. The party had made the decision as Kavitha was known for crossing party lines.

The statement , signed by General Secretary T. Ravinder Rao and Party Disciplinary Committee member Soma Bharatkumar, stated that the BRS leaders have taken Kavitha’s behaviour as a form of anti-party activity that was damaging the party. The Party president and her father, K Chandrasekhar Rao, decided to suspend her immediately after citing her recent comments, which went against the party's policies.

The statement said, “The party leadership is taking this matter seriously as the recent behaviour and ongoing anti-party activities of party MLC K. Kavitha are damaging the BRS party. Party president K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to suspend K. Kavitha from the party with immediate effect.

The suspension amid a time when the party was already navigating internal issues.

Kavita began to catch flak from the party ever since the BRS silver jubilee celebrations. A letter she had written to her father was leaked. In the letter, she said, “As you (KCR) spoke for just two minutes, some people began speculating that there will be a tie-up with the BJP in the future. Even I personally felt that you should have spoken strongly (against the BJP). It might be because I suffered (because of the BJP). But you should have targeted the BJP more, Daddy.”

She had publicly questioned who leaked the letter and accused insiders of sabotaging her. She alleged that instead of investigating the leak, the party members had turned against her.

A day before the suspension, Kavitha had openly blamed party members for damaging KCR’s image. She had also made comments on her brother KTR, who is the party’s working president.

She had said her cousins, former minister T Harish Rao, and former MP J Santosh Kumar were tarnishing her father’s image by amassing assets and having a tacit understanding with Chief Minister Revnath Reddy.

She had made the comments after the Congress government had decided to order a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project, which was built during the BRS rule.

She had also made comments that targeted former minister Jagadish Reddy and called him a ‘Lilliput leader.’
