The Guruvayur temple authorities will hold purification rituals (punyaham) for six days after reality show star and fashion influencer Jasmin Jaffar shot a reel in the temple pond and on the premises of the temple.
As part of the reels, which have now been removed from her social media accounts after a complaint was registered against her with the Devaswom police, Jaffar washed her feet in the sacred pond of the Guruvayur Sri Krishna Temple in Thrissur, irking the devotees and attracting widespread criticism. Guruvayur Devaswom Administrator O.B. Arunkumar filed the complaint against her.
The authorities had clarified that filming videos or reels without prior permission in the temple pond, which is considered sacred, is prohibited.
According to the Devaswom Board, the purification rituals will be held for the next six days. There were also restrictions imposed on darshan till Tuesday afternoon.
Following the complaint, she had also offered an apology, claiming ignorance, saying she did not intend to hurt the religious sentiments of anyone. She said she was ignorant about the rules regarding filming on the temple premises.
