Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly attacked by a visitor at her residence on Wednesday during the weekly Jan Sunvai, according to reports. Gupta has been taken to the hospital.
The attacker, a 35-year-old male, arrived at Gupta’s house while the public hearing was going on. On the pretext of submitting an application, he approached Gupta. He then began verbally abusing her, pulling her hair, and slapping her, according to unverified reports. The attacker has been taken to custody, and his motive is unknown. It is said that he was referring to a court case when attacking the Chief Minister.
Doctors were immediately called to conduct a medical examination of Gupta, after which she was transferred to the hospital. The government is yet to reveal the details of her health status.

Delhi BJP has condemned this incident. Senior leader Ramesh Bidhuri called it an attempt to attack Gupta and disrupt the public meeting. BJP Delhi president Virendraa Sachdeva too strongly condemned the attack on the Chief Minister.
Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav termed the incident unfortunate. “The CM leads the entire Delhi, and I think that the more such incidents are condemned, the less it is. But this incident also exposes women's safety. If the CM of Delhi is not safe, how can a common man or common woman be safe?" he said.
