'Prince of Jungle Raj': What did Bihar deputy CM say to Tejashwi Yadav's two-ID fraud claim?

Tejashwi Yadav's allegations against Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha come a week after the Election Commission (EC) asked the RJD leader to hand over for investigation a voter ID card that he claimed to have, stating that it was not issued officially

Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Sunday sharply rebuked Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav's claim that the former had two Election Picture Identity Card (EPIC) numbers for two different assembly constituencies.

Deputy CM Sinha claimed that in April 2024, he had applied to have his name removed from the voter list for the Patna constituency, since he had applied to add his name to the Lakhisarai Assembly.

Sinha added, citing proof, that the deletion of his records from the Patna constituency was not done, which was why it appeared twice. He also added that he had voted from Lakhisarai itself the last time he had voted.

"It is sad that a person sitting on a constitutional post tarnishes politics with his language; this does not befit him. The complete facts should be known. The whole of Bihar and the country know that the way the prince of Jungle Raj plays the game of tarnishing others, he should apologise and such false allegations should not be made at all," he said.

This allegation comes a week after the Election Commission (EC) asked Yadav to hand over for investigation a voter ID card that he claimed to have, stating that it was not issued officially.

In a press conference on Sunday, Yadav had alleged that this anomaly was found on the EC's online application, which even showed Sinha's age as 57 in one of the voter IDs, and 60 on the other.

Building on Rahul Gandhi's allegations against the EC colluding with the BJP in connection with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, Yadav alleged that "three lakh houses" in the state have zeroes as house numbers.

He also alleged that "either the entire process of SIR of the Election Commission is fraudulent, or the Bihar Deputy CM is a fraud".

"If Vijay Sinha is found guilty, then he should resign, and an FIR should be filed against him. If the Election Commission is found guilty, then the Election Commissioner should come and take back the SIR and apologise," Yadav added.
