Hyderabad residents shouldn't be fooled by the relatively dry weather in the morning hours of Sunday, as Telangana's capital city is almost certain to receive heavy showers in the afternoon. According to Telangana Weatherman, at least a few places in Hyderabad will receive heavy rains by Sunday evening. The IMD weather forecast had earlier said that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and winds speeding between 30-40 kmph were very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana.
"Hyderabad - Dry till noon, followed by Scattered INTENSE THUNDERSTORMS during afternoon - night. Heavy downpours ahead in a few places. Plan accordingly," the popular weather enthusiast said on X around eight in the morning on Sunday.

How much rain is Hyderabad getting?
The afternoon rains may last until night with full force, as on Saturday, when at least two hours of torrential rainfall hammered the city late in the evening. According to information received until 11 p.m. on Saturday, 11.7 cm of rainfall was recorded in Nampally Begambazar, 10.6 cm in Charminar, 9.4 cm in Khairatabad, 9.1 cm in Asifnagar, 9.0 cm in Hayatnagar, 8.6 cm in Musheerabad, 8.5 cm in Himayatnagar, 8.4 cm in Amberpet, 7.2 cm in Bahadurpura, and 6 cm in Ameerpet, Telugu media reports said, citing sources. As a consequence, many low-lying areas were inundated.

According to the daily weather report by the India Meteorological Department, the main Hyderabad station recorded 40 mm of rainfall until 8:30 a.m.

According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places in the Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Nagarkurnool districts of Telangana today.
