Three people were arrested for the alleged gangrape of a college student in Kolkata's Kasba area. According to local media reports, the crime took place on the night of Wednesday, June 25. The accused include a college staffer and a former student.
The survivor underwent a medical examination at the Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital after filing a formal complaint.
The arrests were made by the Kolkata Police on Thursday night. Two of the accused were reportedly picked up from the Talbagan area after the complaint was filed. During police questioning, the name of the third accused came to light, and he was also apprehended, The Telegraph reported.
The investigation team is expected to accompany a forensic team to the crime scene later in the day, the daily added.
