With Iran and Israel agreeing to a ceasefire pushed by US President Donald Trump, the Indian embassy in Iran is set to wind up its evacuations process.
"Since there has been an announcement of ceasefire, the Embassy is gradually winding up the evacuation exercise initiated during the military conflict in Iran," the embassy stated.
On Tuesday, the embassy said its contact desk at Hotel Sadr in Iran's Mashhad has been closed in view of the ceasefire. However, it said Indian nationals who need help can contact the embassy through its Telegram channel or the previously provided helplines. "These communication channels will be open for the next few days," the Indian Embassy in Iran announced.0
The diplomatic mission said it will retain the rooms at Hotel Sadr for two more nights until checkout time on June 26. "This will also allow citizens time to assure themselves that the security situation in Iran is indeed returning to normal," the embassy added.

Responding to the ceasefire, the Union Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday said there is "no alternative to dialogue and diplomacy in order to address and resolve the multiple conflicts in the region." While pointing out that India is deeply concerned about the escalation in the Middle East, the ministry said it welcomes "reports of a ceasefire between Iran and Israel and the role played by the US and Qatar in bringing it about".
