Sonam Raghuvanshi and Raja Raghuvanshi Sonam Raghuvanshi admitted to plotting the killing of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi

In a new development, a man called Sanjay Verma was called 119 times by Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused in the Meghalaya murder case. She kept in touch with the man in the weeks leading up to the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi. However, reports say that Vermas’s number has been switched off since the murder took place.

With the Meghalaya Police reconstructing the scene of the murder on June 18, more details have emerged. The police discovered that a second machete was used to kill Raja Raghuvanshi who was killed with three blows. At the crime scene, along with Sonam, the prime accused, were three others. The mastermind behind the killing was revealed to be Raj Kushwaha, Sonams boyfriend, who stayed away from the crime scene to not be suspected.

The reconstruction of the crime scene was done by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at Sohra where Raja’s body was found. The team discovered that a second machete, now recovered by the SDRF, was used to kill Raja.

Vivek Syiem, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, said that Raja was killed by three blows, one by Vishal, a second by Akash and the final by Anand. Sonam who was present at the scene beside Raja had fled once the first blow was made.

After Raja died, his body was thrown into a gorge by the three men and tumbled down into a ledge. Sonam was not present for the disposal of the body, but shortly after the murder she had damaged Raja’s mobile phone which was later destroyed by Vishal.

The SP said, “We have conducted a crime scene recreation, during which the accused re-enacted their actions. This has given us a clearer picture of what transpired. The second machete used in the murder has also been recovered by the SDRF.”

The four suspects were made to demonstrate each part of the crime while being filmed. The SITs probe that included the reconstruction expanded to Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh since the accused were found there.

The probe has also revealed that a first attempt on Raja’s life was actually made at Weisawdong Park since Sonam had given a signal, but it failed as he had started his scooter.

Raj Kushwaha, an employee at a business owned by Sonam’s family, did not go with the four other suspects as his sudden disappearance would be suspicious.

The SP also said that Sonam had confessed to the crime and the conspiracy early on in the investigation. However, he said it is uncertain whether the accused actually feels remorse.

Raja, 29, from Indore was found dead in a gorge after he and Sonam, 24, went for a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. His body was found on June 2 and police speculated that the woman could have been abducted. Details of the case unravelled after Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh, revealing that her husband had been murdered by three hitmen who were hired by her and her boyfriend who worked at her family’s business.
