During the media interaction, Govind said that, based on the evidence found so far, he is completely sure that his sister committed the murder. “All the accused in this case are related to Raj Kushwaha. I apologise to Raja's family,” he said.
“Our parents have also accepted it. They were not aware of the details until earlier today,” Govind was quoted as saying by Times of India (TOI). He added that his family would cut all ties with his sister. He also clarified that he had no connection to the other three accused in the case and only knew Raj Kushwaha, who worked in their family business.
Vipin later explained to the press that Govind had been in touch with him and had informed them in advance of his visit to their residence. Govind had told them that his sister had made a grave mistake and that she deserved the death penalty.
Uma Raghuvanshi, mother of Raja Raghuvanshi, later said that she had asked Govind whether he had met his sister. He told her that he met her for three minutes. “I asked him why he didn’t hit her. He said he didn’t get a chance as there was media and police,” she was quoted as saying by The Mint.
Indore native Raja Raghuvanshi, 29, was found dead in a gorge while on a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya with his 24-year-old wife, Sonam. His body was discovered on June 2, and police initially speculated that the woman might have been abducted. However, the details of the case unraveled after Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh, revealing that her husband had been murdered according to her plan, as she was in love with a man who worked at her family’s business.
