A day after Meghalaya police nabbed Sonam Raghuvanshi in connection with the murder of Indore-based businessman and her husband Raja, Meghalaya Minister Alexander Laloo Hek demanded that the Raghuvanshi family must apologise for tarnishing the image of the state. Sonam was arrested from Uttar Pradesh on Monday, and she will be brought to Shillong today.
Meghalaya's Fisheries Minister Alexander Laloo Hek told ANI, "We are thankful to the Meghalaya Police for their crackdown and completing the investigation within seven days. Now, we are seeking an apology from the families of Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi for tarnishing the image of Meghalaya and its people." Hek added the citizens in Meghalaya have demanded an apology from the family. Hek said they would move a defamation case otherwise.
Sonam, who was at large after the murder of her husband Raja in Meghalaya, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur on Monday. Sonam told police that she was drugged and kidnapped.

The newly-wed couple from Madhya Pradesh, Sonam and Raja, had visited Meghalaya for honeymoon on May 20. Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife had gone missing while vacationing at Sohra in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district on May 23. The Madhya Pradesh government urged the Meghalaya government to expedite the probe. Cops recovered Raja's body on June 2 from a gorge and a massive search was launched for Sonam.
According to police, Sonam, along with his alleged lover Raj Kushwaha, plotted Raja's murder. Police have so far arrested five persons in connection with the case.
