The Congress on Tuesday slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah and called his claims of restoring peace in Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur "bizarre". Congress charged the Centre was trying to divert public attention from its own failures.

Critising Shah, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X, "The terrorists responsible for brutal April 22, 2025 terror attacks in Pahalgam have still not been brought to justice. According to some reports that have not been denied these very terrorists were also involved in the Dec 2023 terror attacks in Poonch and the Oct 2024 terror attacks in Gagangir and Gulmarg."

On Manipur, Congress charged law and order is still in a perilous condition in the state. "Manipur continues to burn. The much-delayed President's Rule has been a miserable failure. Law and order is in a perilous condition. The frustration, agony, and anger  of the people of the state at the condition of their daily lives and livelihoods is unmistakable."

Saying the Union minister failed to bring Pahalgam terror victims to justice, Ramesh said, "Never has India had a Union Home Minister whose tenure has been one of Maximum Boasts, Minimum Achievements--unless what he has been able to do for his son can count for that."

The Congress has been targeting Centre over the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. While the opposition expressed solidarity with Centre over the issue, Congress has been demanding an all-party meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a special session of Parliament to discuss the attack and Operation Sindoor, the military operation India launched to avenge the terror attack.

Congress has also been targeting the prime minister over communal violence in Manipur and has been demanding Modi should visit the state.
