Security has been heightened outside the special court hearing National Investigation Agency’s cases at Patiala House as 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks accused Tahawwur Rana is likely to be produced for remand on Thursday. Rana, who is being brought to India on a special military plane by a multi-agency team is likely to land after noon.
A large number of personnel from paramilitary forces and the Delhi police have been deployed outside the court and visitors are being thoroughly frisked to avoid untoward incidents. According to reports, the terror attack conspirator is likely to be remanded in Tihar jail and arrangements have been made at the prison to lodge him.

Meanwhile, the Union home ministry has appointed advocate Narender Mann as the special public prosecutor in the case. In a late night notification on Wednesday, the home ministry said, “In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 15 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 (34 of 2008), read with sub-section (8) of section 18 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), the central government hereby appoints Narender Mann, advocate as special public prosecutor for conducting trial and other matters related to NIA case RC-04/2009/NIA/DLI on behalf of the National Investigation Agency before the NIA Special Courts at Delhi and Appellate Courts, for a period of three years from the date of publication of this notification or till the completion of trial of the said case, whichever is earlier.”
The key conspirator of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Tahawwur Rana has been extradited to India and he is en route to the country on a special military flight. A multi-agency team from India took custody of Rana from Los Angeles, US on Tuesday.
