The Gujarat Police took action against a sub-inspector who was caught on camera assaulting a boy who drove his bicycle into a rehearsal of security arrangements in place for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy on Thursday.
A viral video from Surat's Limbayat showed the policeman pulling the boy by his hair and beating him. The teenage boy, seen donning an orange shirt, was still on the bicycle, balancing it on his leg when assaulted and chided by the officer, the video showed.

This kid would never grow up to respect #Gujarat Police.

The police officer had a choice to be a role model or present the worse face of policing.
Sadly, he chose the later.
The kid made an innocent mistake.

The cop involved in the incident at Limbayat was identified Sub-Inspector B L Gadhvi attached to Surat, Indian Express said in a report. As a consequence of his unjustifiable action, his increment has been put on hold for a year. A transfer order has been issued to Gadhvi, asking him to report to Morbi, the report added.
The incident happened when the Surat Police were carrying out a rehearsal of the convoy route to ensure everything was in order for the Prime Minister's address on Friday evening. While the convoy was passing through Limbayat main road, the boy strayed towards it on his bicycle. The video captured him willy-nilling on his bike near the convoy of cars. He didn't disrupt the drill in any manner and kept a safe distance but the SI, stationed on the main road, caught hold of him and assaulted him.
The teenager did reveal to his family about the police high handedness but the action against the officer is said to be a consequence of the video going viral on the internet, reports suggest.
