Months after Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash's case triggered an uproar, another IT employee committed suicide after he posted a video alleging his wife of harassment. The 25-year-old has been identified as Manav Sharma, who worked as Senior Process Associate at Tata Consultancy Services in Mumbai.

Manav, who was a resident of Defense Colony at Agra, got married last year. He was living in Mumbai with his wife but returned home on February 23 and dropped his wife at her house. Sharma's parents alleged that his wife's parents threatened him. He was found dead in his home the next day.

Before hanging himself, Sharma made a nearly seven-minute-long video in which he broke down, alleging harassment. In the video found on his phone, Manav alleged that his marriage was a distressing experience, and accused his wife Nikita Sharma of threatening false accusations. She also expressed interest in living with her boyfriend, he alleged.

Manav breaks down while urging society to acknowledge the struggles men face and to "think and talk about men". "This message is for the authorities—the police, the legal system. Men need protection too. If things continue this way, there will come a time when men won’t be left, when there will be no one left to take the blame," he lamented.

Manavalso apologises to his parents for his desperate act. "Dad, I’m sorry. Mom, I’m sorry. But understand this—once I’m gone, everything will be fine. Everything will get better after my death. Let me go..."

However, Nikita denied the allegations, stating that Manav had attempted to commit suicide before too. She said Manav had been struggling with alcohol addiction and had assaulted her many times. Nikita added that she had informed Manav's parents about his behaviour but was told by them to handle it herself. "I had informed my in-laws several times, but they ignored my pleas, saying that it was a matter between a husband and a wife and they cannot do much in it,” Nikita was quoted by The Times of India.

Manav, however, acknowledges that he has attempted suicide earlier too. Showing his scarred wrist, he said, "I’ve always been a quitter. I have tried to end my life multiple times before."

Police said they have started a probe after receiving a complaint via WhatsApp on Thursday night.
