Terming this year's Mahakumbh Mela as a global event, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that more than 66.3 crore people visited Prayagraj for the event.
"Over the past 45 days, more than 66.3 crore pilgrims and tourists visited Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, creating new records in religious tourism," he said.
Adityanath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful organisation of the Mahakumbh.
"Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj truly became a global event, and the credit goes to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His vision has helped us successfully execute this grand event, and you (the media) have played a crucial role in conveying its significance to the country and the world. I thank you for that," the chief minister said.
Adityanath noted that spiritual tourism holds immense potential in the country and Uttar Pradesh is the most suitable state to harness it.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi termed the Maha Kumbh as a 'mahayajna' of unity and said India has to now march together with a similar spirit of self-confidence and unity to fulfil the goal of 'Viksit Bharat'.
"The Maha Kumbh has concluded. The 'mahayajna' of unity has concluded," he said in blog.
Modi likened the massive congregation in Prayagraj to the "newly awakened consciousness of a nation breathing freely after breaking the shackles of a mindset steeped in centuries-old slavery".
The event began on January 13 and concluded on February 26 on the day of Mahashivaratri.
The prime minister claimed that the holding of Mahakumbh has become a study subject for management professionals, and planning and policy experts as there is no other example of such a gigantic event in the world.
Modi praised the Yogi Adityanath government for making the Mahakumbh a great success.
"Being an MP from UP, I can proudly say that under the leadership of Yogi ji, the government, administration and the public together made this Maha Kumbh of unity a success.," he said.
