Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the allocation of portfolios among the ministers on Thursday evening, hours after the new government took oath.

The chief minister has kept a total of ten portfolios with her, including finance, services, vigilance, revenue, and women and child development.

She is also in charge of the general administration department, land and building, information and public relations, and administrative reforms.

Parvesh Verma, who was reportedly a front-runner for the CM post, was given charge of PWD, water, legislative affairs, irrigation and flood control. He was also given the responsibility of gurdwara elections.

Ashish Sood will be the new home minister. He has also been given the charge of power, urban development and higher education portfolios.

Minister Kapil Mishra was given law and justice, labour and employment, and tourism. Manjinder Singh Sirsa received industries, forest and environment, food and supply departments.

Health, transport and information technology portfolios were given to Pankaj Singh while his cabinet colleague Ravinder Indraj was given social welfare, SC & ST welfare, cooperative and elections.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has approved the allocation of portfolios.

Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was sworn in as the chief minister along with the six ministers at a grand event at the sprawling Ramlila Maidan.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the top BJP brass and NDA leaders.

Soon after the swearing-in, Gupta said that her government would not waste a single day in realising its mission of 'Vikasit Delhi'.

"We will fulfil all the commitments made to the people of Delhi," she said while talking to reporters.
