Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on important visits to France and the US beginning today. He will be in France from February 10-12 and will co-chair the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.
PM Modi’s US visit comes amid President Donald Trump’s announcement that he would impose 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, along with reciprocal tariffs on several countries and “matching each country's levy”. The US president has, in the past, termed India a "very big abuser" on trade.
PM Modi’s visit to France
In France, PM Modi will attend a dinner hosted by President Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris. It is likely to be attended by CEOs from the technology domain.

On February 11, Modi will co-chair the AI Action Summit, along with Macron. The two leaders are also expected to hold discussions and address the India-France CEO's Forum.
PM Modi and President Macron will also visit Mazargues War Cemetery in Marseille and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers in World War I. They will inaugurate the newest Consulate General of India in Marseille.
They will also visit Cadarache, the site of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), a high-science project that India is part of along with other countries.
PM Modi’s visit to the US
PM Modi will be in the US from February 12. He will hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump and interact with business leaders and Indian expats.
Modi's bilateral meeting with Trump is expected to cover trade, investment, technology, defence cooperation, counterterrorism, Indo-Pacific security and people-to-people relations.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss the Bangladesh situation, too, along with other regional and international matters.
It will be Modi's first visit since Trump began his second tenure as the US president.
