Authorities from the Krishnagiri district administration and the child welfare department have conducted an inquiry with students of a government middle school in the district where the 13-year-old victim was studying. The three accused teachers booked under the POCSO Act have been remanded to police custody.
According to authorities, an inquiry was conducted with other children at the school and reportedly, no other student have raised similar complaints. Krishnagiri Chief Education Officer Muniraj told THE WEEK that officials from the child welfare department spoke with the students of the school and no other case has been reported. The children are being provided with mental health support, he added.
The shocking incident came to light after the headmistress of the school visited the victim at her home following her continuous absence. The headmistress immediately alerted Child Line and all three accused teachers of the school have been arrested.

District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar said all the accused teachers have been suspended from service. “A 13-year-old girl student was allegedly sexually assaulted by three teachers at a government middle school in Krishnagiri district. The three teachers have been suspended by the District Education Officer (DEO) and arrested under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act,” the district collector told ANI.
The opposition has slammed the ruling government for the incident. Tamil Nadu Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami said the M.K. Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government must take full responsibility for the incident. “The Stalin-model DMK government should bow its head in shame for pushing Tamil Nadu to a point where women are not safe anywhere,” Palaniswami tweeted. Palaniswami urged the state government to ensure maximum punishment for the accused.
Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party president K. Annamalai also slammed the DMK government over the incident and charged the state government has completely failed to ensure the basic safety of children.
