Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a frontal attack on the opposition, especially the Aam Aadmi Party, saying some leaders were focusing on "jacuzzis" and "stylish showers".

Speaking in Lok Sabha in reply to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Modi said his government gave tap water to 12 crore families.

"Some leaders are focusing on jacuzzis and stylish showers, but our focus is on getting a water connection in every home," he said in a jibe at AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal who has been accused of building a "Sheesh Mahal" during his term as the chief minister.

Modi's attack on the AAP came on the eve of the Delhi assembly elections in which the BJP hopes for a strong comeback to power.

The prime minister raked up the 'Sheesh Mahal' allegation against Kejriwal as he targeted the opposition over corruption.

"Our Swachhata Abhiyan was criticised as if it was a sin. However, today I can say because of that, the government got Rs 2,300 crore after junk was removed from offices and sold," Modi said.

Modi said the government used that money to build infrastructure in the country.

"Earlier, the newspaper headlines used to be on corruption. But now it's been 10 years and we have saved money because of no corruption. We didn't use this money to build a 'sheesh mahal' but we used that to build the country. Ten years ago, the infrastructure budget used to be Rs 1,80,000 crore, today it is Rs 11,00,000 crore," he said.
