On the eve of the 76th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu approved 139 Padma awards including seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri.
Former Suzuki chief Osamu Suzuki, folk singer Sharda Sinha and Malayalam writer M.T. Vasudevan Nair (posthumously) were awarded Padma Vibhushan.
Former Bihar Dy Chief Minister Sushil Modi, economist Bibek Debroy and gazal singer Pankaj Udhas (posthumously) were honoured with Padma Bhushan.
Dinamalar publisher Lakshmipathy Ramasubbaiyer was awarded Padma Shri for literature, education and journalism.
