Flight operations at Srinagar Airport were disrupted due to heavy snowfall on Saturday, leading to the cancellation of all scheduled flights for the day.

Airport officials reported that poor visibility made landings impossible. Initially, 80 per cent of flights were cancelled, with the remaining 10 per cent placed on standby. However, worsening weather conditions resulted in the cancellation of all flights.

Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with their airlines for rescheduling or refund options.

The snowfall has also impacted road traffic across Kashmir, particularly affecting major routes such as the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Mughal Road, and Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri Road.

Accumulated snow and slippery conditions caused road closures and delays.

Pulwama Police responded swiftly to distress calls during the heavy snowfall. In one instance, officers facilitated the transportation of a deceased individual from Wahibugh to Qazipora Budgam for final rites after snow blocked the roads. Police carried the body on foot, ensuring the bereaved family could conduct the funeral.

In another incident, Pulwama Police rescued two women needing medical attention near Turkawagan Bridge. Braving severe weather, they transported the patients to District Hospital Pulwama, where they received the necessary treatment.

Pulwama Police urged the public to exercise caution during the severe weather and assured that assistance would be provided to those in need.

Despite the disruptions, the snowfall brought joy to tourists visiting the region. Tourists enjoyed the snow along Dal Lake, capturing photos and videos. The picturesque, snow-covered landscape offered a rare delight amidst the challenges.
