The Mumbai police arrested a man from Akola in connection with the murder of veteran Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique on Sunday. The accused allegedly provided financial aid for the main shooters who gunned down Siddique.
The crime branch of Mumbai police arrested Salmanbhai Iqbalbhai Vohra, a resident of Gujarat from Akola in Maharashtra. Vohra was arrested with the help of local police, a crime branch official said. According to police, Vohra helped the main shooters involved in the murder by opening bank accounts and offered financial aid, police said.
"Vohra had opened a bank account in May this year and had provided financial support to Nareshkumar Singh, brother of arrested accused Gurmail Singh, Rupesh Mohol and Harishkumar. He has also helped others connected to the crime," police told PTI.

Veteran Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique was gunned down by assailants outside his son Zeeshan’s office on October 12. The shooters were allegedly linked with Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Among the three shooters who were involved in killing Siddique, Mumbai police managed to arrest two – Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh resident Dharmaraj Kashyap – soon after the incident. The Nationalist Congress Party (AP) leader was allegedly gunned down for his close ties with Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
The Mumbai police recently arrested the alleged main shooter Shivkumar Gautam from Uttar Pradesh. Recent probe revealed Gautam managed to change clothes after the incident and he waited amongst the crowd outside Lilavati hospital for 30 minutes to confirm Siddique’s death.
