Mohanlal's second film with Tharun Moorthy, the director of the actor's blockbuster "Thudarum", now has a title: "Athimanoharam" (Very Beautiful). The first-look poster, released on the special occasion of Vishu (April 15), features the Malayalam superstar in police attire standing amidst Sabarimala pilgrims.

Interestingly, in "Thudarum", a notable sequence featured Mohanlal, playing a stuntman-turned-taxi driver, chatting cinema with Sabarimala pilgrims. The film opened with a group of Sabarimala pilgrims returning from their trip.  During this scene, the pilgrims ask Mohanlal's character Benz about the special qualities of superstars like Rajnikanth, Mammootty, and.... Mohanlal, and he replies that it's their stunts.

But there could also be other "hidden details" as fans had spotted some in the poster of "Thudarum" pertaining to the key plot developments in the film, which was initially assumed to be a "lighthearted" family entertainer, but turned out to be a thriller.

Mohanlal's character in "Athimanoharam" is named TS Lovelajan, marking his return to a full-fledged cop role after several years. Meera Jasmine plays the female lead, portraying Lovelajan's wife, Naisy. Jasmine previously worked with Mohanlal in "Hridayapoorvam", "Innathe Chinthavishayam" and "Ladies & Gentlemen".

"Athimanoharam" is produced by Ashiq Usman and features music by Jakes Bejoy.

Since Tharun made his debut with a police thriller "Operation Java", in which he managed to balance realism and flair, sans any superstars, "Athimanoharam" is now one of the filmmaker's and Mohanlal's most awaited releases.

"Athimanoharam" has a screenplay by Retheesh Ravi, and is shot by "Thudarum" cinematographer Shaji Kumar. Editing duties are handled by Vivek Harshan ("Manjummel Boys" and "Aavesham").

Aside from this film, Mohanlal has "Drishyam 3" scheduled to be released in theatres on May 21, 2026. The much-anticipated Malayalam crime thriller, directed by Jeethu Joseph, was postponed from its initial April date to coincide with Mohanlal's 66th birthday.
