The father of Aryan Mishra, a Class 12 student killed by cow vigilantes in Faridabad, was asked for forgiveness by the alleged murderer of his son who mistook him for a Muslim. According to Aryan's father Siyanand Mishra, the accused in the murder of his youngest son claimed that "he regretted" having taken the life of a "Brahmin". He "thought" Aryan "was a Muslim."

According to reports, it was during a meeting at a Faridabad jail on August 27, Tuesday, that Siyanand Mishra received a strange confession from Anil Kaushik. The incident took place when 19-year-old Aryan Mishra was reportedly killed in the early hours of August 24 after Kaushik's gang, local cow vigilantes, mistook the teenager and friends for cow smugglers.

The accused chased the SUV in which the youngsters were travelling for 50 kilometres. They then decided to fire at the vehicle near the Gadpuri toll plaza in Haryana’s Palwal district, claiming Mishra's life. According to reports, Aryan was shot in the head and right shoulder.
