Massive landslides wreaked havoc in the hilly areas of Kerala's Wayanad district on Tuesday, leading to the death of over 40 people.
The landslides in Wayanad left a trail of destruction, with several homes totally destroyed, water bodies swollen, and trees uprooted.
Several bodies swept away by the Chaliyar River were recovered in the neighbouring Malappuram district.
Rescue teams were working tirelessly to evacuate those stranded.
Hundreds of people are feared to be trapped in the debris.
Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages are the most affected.
