The Karnataka government has decided to form a Special Investigation Team to probe an alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

Prajwal is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. He was the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, which went to polls on April 26. The JD(S) joined the NDA in September last year.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah posted on X, “The government has decided to form a special investigation team in connection with Prajwal Revanna's obscene video case.”

He added, “Obscene video clips are circulating in Hassan district, where it appears that women have been sexually assaulted. In this background, the Chairperson of the Women's Commission had written a letter to the government to conduct an SIT investigation. This decision has been taken in response to their request.”

According to Hindustan Times, Revanna has reportedly left the country and travelled to Frankfurt on Saturday. Allegedly, obscene videos involving Revanna were circulated in Hassan ahead of Lok Sabha polling on April 26. Karnataka Women’s Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Chaudhary wrote to Karnataka chief minister and State police chief seeking a special probe on the videos.

Revanna, through his election agent, has lodged a complaint with police and alleged doctored videos are being circulated to tarnish his image. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar asked JD(S)and BJP leaders to clarify on the issue.
