Condemning the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy case, the Opposition’s INDIA alliance will organise a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan on March 31. Addressing a press conference, INDIA leaders said the protest is to save the Constitution and democracy of the country.

Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Gopal Rai said, “The way Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been arrested, there is anger in the hearts of people across the nation who love and respect the constitution.” He added, “It is not just about Arvind Kejriwal, but to wipe out the entire opposition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is misusing central agencies.” Rai alleged legislators are either being bought, or threatened to join the BJP. Rai said, “People who are not ready to be sold, bow down, fake cases are being registered against them.”

Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Congress's Delhi unit chief, alleged that opposition parties are not being given a level playing field. "The March 31 'maha rally' will not only be a political one but a call to save the country's democracy and raise voices against the BJP-led Centre," Lovely said.

Delhi minister Atishi said, “The rally is not being organised to save Arvind Kejriwal but to save the democracy. The opposition is facing one-sided attacks.”
