A suspect involved in the Bengaluru cafe blast on March 1 stayed in Chennai with another accomplice, according to the sleuths.

A limited edition baseball cap worn by the suspect when the IED blast took place at The Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru's Brookfield helped the NIA to trace his stay in Chennai. The cap, which was reportedly purchased from a mall in Chennai, was recovered by the NIA after the explosion.

The supect, Musavir Hussain Shazib, was spotted in CCTV footage before he bought the cap from the mall in Mylapore. He was with his aide Abdil Taha and the duo stayed in a lodge in Chennai's Triplicane using fake IDs.

The two men, both residents of Thirthahalli and linked to the Shivamogga ISIS module, are wanted by the NIA in a 2020 terror case.

Sleuths are using hair strands recovered from the cap for forensic test to compare the DNA with that of Shazib's relatives. He reportedly stayed in Chennai for more than one month before he went to Bengaluru on February 29 night.
