Speculations are rife that actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will ally with Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Rumours are that both parties are in the process of finalising alliance talks and sealing deals, including seat sharing.

Though he did not divulge more, Kamal told reporters on Monday at Chennai airport that one can expect good news in two days. "In two days,  I will meet you with good news. Works for the Parliament election are going well and hoping for a good opportunity. Regarding the alliance, we will announce the decision in two days," Kamal Haasan said.

He arrived in Chennai from the US on Monday morning from the schedule for his upcoming movie 'Thug Life'.

The MNM-DMK talks will restart after the Budget session on Monday, sources told The Times of India. They added that MNM was likely to be given one seat and Kamal Haasan himself is interested in contesting MNM's torchlight symbol. The actor is also likely to announce the decision on February 21, the seventh founding year of his party. However, meetings with DMK party functionaries will continue till Thursday, according to reports.

Last September, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said the party will decide at the time of the elections whether the party will ally with MNM. Hinting at a possible alliance, Kamal Haasan had come in defence of Udhayanidhi Stalin during the 'Sanatana Dharma' controversy, saying that a young child (Udhayanidhi) was being targeted just because he spoke about Sanatana.

Kamal Haasan has earlier displayed his proximity to Rahul Gandhi by joining the latter for Bharat Jodo Yatra. He had also congratulated Rahul Gandhi for winning in the Karnataka elections. "Just as Gandhiji, you walked your way into people's hearts and as he did you demonstrated that in your gentle way, you can shake the powers of the world -with love and humility. Your credible and creditable approach, without bravado or chest thumping, has ushered a breath of fresh air for the people," Kamal wrote of Rahul Gandhi.
