Amid rumours and speculations of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath's exit from the party, Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari on Sunday said that the former CM will be staying in Congress.

Patwari said he spoke to Kamal Nath and he said that all these things were just rumours.

"The rumours that Kamal Nath going to BJP, is an example of how media can be misused. This was a conspiracy made against Kamal Nath. I spoke to him and he said that all these things are just rumours, and he is a Congress person and will continue to be a Congress person...he will continue to have Congress ideology till his last breath," Patwari was quoted by ANI.

Several Madhya Pradesh MLAs close to Kamal Nath arrived in Delhi on Sunday amid intensified speculations.

While speaking on Nath’s behalf, Patwari said his relationship with the Gandhi family is unshakable.

On Saturday, Nath along with his son had arrived in Delhi after cancelling his programme in Chhindwara. Strengthening the rumours of possible switch to BJP, Nakul had changed his ‘Congress’ bio in his social media accounts.

Nath's Congress colleague Digvijaya Singh has expressed confidence that his old friend won't forsake the party from where he began his political journey.

Following the Congress's defeat in the November Assembly polls, Nath was removed as the party's state president. Reportedly, Nath was not happy as the party did not pick him as its nominee from MP for Rajya Sabha polls.

Some of Nath's loyalists had said that he was hurt by the way Congress had removed him from the party unit chief post after the MP polls.

Deepak Saxena, former MP minister said that he will follow his leader in whatever decision he takes. Former state minister Sajjan Singh Verma also told reporters that he will follow Kamal Nath's decision.

Digvijaya Singh had said that Kamal Nath is considered the third son of late PM Indira Gandhi. "Can you dream of the third son of Indiraji (Gandhi) joining the BJP?" he said.
