Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh will not be taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Monday as the House Chairman has denied permission. Being jailed in connection with a money laundering case, Sanjay Singh was renominated by AAP from Delhi to Rajya Sabha.

According to reports, the AAP leader was not allowed to take oath as the Chairman said that the matter is currently with the Privileges Committee, ANI reported.

All three AAP candidates – former Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal, Sanjay Singh and ND Gupta got elected to Rajya Sabha. The party nominated Swati Maliwal for the first time to the House and renominated Sanjay Singh and Gupta.

A Delhi Court on Saturday allowed Singh to visit Parliament and take oath under police custody. The court had directed authorities to take Singh to Parliament at 10am and make adequate security arrangements.

The Enforcement Directorate arrested Singh on October 4 on charges of money laundering in connection with the now scrapped Delhi excise policy.
