Days after Sachin Tendulkar cautioned his social media followers against a deepfake video, an FIR was registered against an online gaming app for morphing the cricket legend's old video.

On Monday, Tendulkar posted on X that a deepfake video of him was used to promote a gaming app using a voice impersonating him. In the video, the cricketer is seen saying that the app is an easy plaform to earn money quickly and that his daughter Sara Tendulkar regularly uses the app.

"These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology," Tendulkar posted on X, urging everyone to report such videos, ads and apps. "Social media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes."

He had tagged Maharashtra Cyber Police, the Union Electronics and IT and Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar.

The latest deepfake incident comes months after actor Rashmika Mandanna had raised alarm against a deepfake video wherein her face was morphed into an Instagram video of a British actress.

Actors like Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif were also victims to deepfake videos in the past.
