A police sub-inspector accused of raping a minor girl in Dausa district was beaten up by villagers outside the police station before being arrested. The accused SI raped the minor while being posted on election duty, senior police officials said.

A massive protest was conducted by villagers outside the police station and they manhandled the accused police personnel. According to reports, the SI who was posted on election duty allegedly lured the minor girl into his room under false pretext and raped her.

“The incident took place in Lalsot area when accused sub-inspector Bhupendra Singh lured the victim to his room in the afternoon and raped her,” ASP Ramchandra Singh Nehra said. Local residents in large numbers gheraoed the Rahuwas police station shouting slogans against the police.

BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena also went to the spot. “There is a huge anger among the people over the incident of rape of a seven-year-old Dalit girl by a policeman in Lalsot. I have reached the spot to get justice for the innocent child,” Meena said.

Criticising the Rajasthan Congress government on the incident, BJP Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “Instead of taking quick action on the accused, the Rajasthan police and administration took action in an institutional manner to save the accused...No suspension was done immediately. What about the two other police officials who have helped this particular accused in destroying the evidence. Has the Rajasthan police and government taken action against them immediately?”, ANI reported.
