As public campaigning for the Assembly elections ends in Chhattisgarh and Mizoram on Sunday, the political parties are leaving no stone unturned to put up a tough fight. The BJP has roped in Prime Minister  Narendra Modi to campaign in Chhattisgarh, while state chief minister Bhupesh Baghel will helm Congress's campaigning on Sunday.

The Prime Minister started the day by offering prayers at Maa Bamleshwari temple, a prominent pilgrimage destination, in the state. He then headed to Chandragiri Jain Temple where he sought the blessings of Saint Vidya Sagar Maharaj. Modi also addressed a rally at Dongargarh in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in the state on Saturday,  had attacked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel over the alleged 'Mahadev' betting app scam and said the Congress leader and the state government should tell people what links they have with the accused who are sitting in Dubai.

The last day of public campaigning will also see Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath holding a road show.  Union Minister Smriti Irani also undertook a scooter rally from Keshkal to Kondagaon on Sunday.

The saffron party struggled in the state during the 2018 elections, winning just 15 out of 90.

Baghel is reportedly touring Kabirdham, Rajnandgaon and Durg districts, addressing election rallies.

As for Mizoram, the last day of public campaigning saw Union Minister Kiren Rijiju expressing confidence at the party's performance. "This election in Mizoram is going to be the most defining state Assembly election ever because for the first time BJP is playing a major role in the election. Earlier, the BJP was fighting to win one or two seats but in this election, we are a major force because we are going to win many seats in different pockets of the states," said Rijiju, stating that the leadership of PM Modi has inspired the people of Mizoram.

BJP's Mizoram additional in-charge Anil Antony also said that this election would be the party's best-ever performance in the state.
