A Class 9 student studying at City Montessori School in Aliganj, Lucknow, collapsed due to a suspected heart attack in the classroom. The 14-year-old was declared dead on arrival in the hospital.
Atif Siddiqui fainted during chemistry class on Wednesday. The school said it stands with the student's family and is willing to cooperate with any investigation.
Siddiqui was immediately taken to a private nursing home nearby by the schoolteacher and school nurse. The boy's father also had reached the nursing home around the same time. Reportedly, the child was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) several times, but could not be revived.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained. His body has been sent for post-mortem. Siddqui's father Mohd Anwar Sidiqqui is a businessman and his mother Nighat is a housewife. He has three siblings-- a twin brother and two sisters.
