Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Wanigam Payeen, Kreeri, in Baramulla on Thursday morning. This is the second encounter in less than 24 hours in north Kashmir.
On Wednesday, two militants who had infiltrated into the Mahcil sector in Kupwara near the line of control (LoC) were killed in an encounter after Army and J&K Police’s special operation group (SOG) launched a search operation. Weapons, including two AK47s, bullets and grenades, were also recovered from the deceased militants.

The J&K Police said the encounter at Kreeri happened after security forces launched a search operation in the area. Security has been heightened in Jammu and Kashmir given the meeting of the G20 Tourism Workin Group in Srinagar from May 22 to May 25.
