The Youth 20(Y20) meeting that is being held under the aegis of Group 20 (G20) is all set to begin in Ladakh today.
The event will begin in the presence of Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Services and Sports Anurag Thakur and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra Auditorium.
As many as 170 delegates from 100 countries, except China, have reached Ladakh. The arrival of the delegates began on April 26.
The event is a setback to China and also Pakistan who are opposed to holding the international event in Jammu and Kashmir, which will host the tourism working group of G20 from May 22 to 24. The delegates spent the day visiting various religious sites Hemis and Thiksay Monasteries, lakes and other areas in Leh. In the evening, Mishra hosted a dinner for the delegates and interacted with some of the delegates.
During three -day event, the delegates will speak on important issues like Climate Change, health and sports. They will also focus on themes like Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance; Future of Work: Industry 4.0, Innovation & 21st Century Skills; Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction: Making Sustainability a Way of Life; Peace Building and Reconciliation: Ushering in an era of No War and Health, Wellbeing & Sports: Agenda for Youth.
