The infighting in Rajasthan Congress has once again come to the fore with senior leader Sachin Pilot publicly hitting out at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, accusing him of doing nothing against corruption cases during the Vasundhara Raje regime.
Pilot, who has been at loggerheads with Gehlot ever since the government came to power, also announced a one-day stir on Tuesday.
While playing old videos of Gehlot accusing Raje of corruption and misrule, Pilot asked why hasn't the Rajasthan government acted against the corruption cases. "We levelled those allegations against the government of Vasundhara ji together. I too levelled some charges as the then president of the state unit of the party. I do not believe in revenge politics. But we had some credibility as the opposition and that's why we came to the power," Sachin Pilot said.
He added that it was necessary to assure people that the Congress government was acting on its statements. "You all know that the central government is misusing the central agencies. On one hand, the central govt is misusing the agencies to target the leadership of Congress. But in Rajasthan, we are neither using them nor misusing them. This is an important issue because the public should not think that we don't fulfil our promises," he told reporters.
Pilot added that he wrote a letter to Gehlot, stating that it was important to show the public that there is no difference between promises and work since elections were around the corner. "But I have not received any answer from the CM yet," he added.
"I wrote the first letter on March 28, 2022. Got no reply. Then I wrote again on November 2, 2022. I wrote that the public believed us and moved us from 21 seats to 100 seats," Pilot said.
"Due to inaction by Ashok Gehlot government against corruption cases during Vasundhara Raje regime, our opponents can question whether they are hand in gloves," the Congress MLA added.
Pilot said he will carry out a one-day hunger strike on April 11 demanding action against the corruption cases. "I will do a one-day hunger strike to mark my words that action should be taken against corruption in the state so that the public does not feel that we are not doing any work or we have not fulfilled any of our promises," he added.
